FAQ
1.Why the new releasing
of SAP does not support 32bit's server operation
system from 2007?
SAP's software can provide services for more
than 100 users on a single SAP application
server.SAP software also can deal with the tasks
in huge database(at least several GBs).SAP has
imported 64bit's compatible ability since 1998
and can satisfy the most optimization of the
performance and the most convenient use at the
same time.Along with the increase of the
experience such as developments,services and
supports,SAP has proved the advantage that the
64bit's environment has brought to SAP software
clearly.Under the platform of 64bit's unix and
OS/400,SAP doesn't support 32bit's from SAP
6.20release and has won the recognise of the
customers.
2.We own nearly
hundreds of 32bit's desktop PCs,and do I need to
exchange them all since SAP does not support
32bit's form 2007?
No support 32bit's announcement will apply in
the end of server, such as SAP application
server,SAP WebAS java or database. We will
support 32bit's GUI and NetWeaver Developers
Studio as before. The reason is that the desktop
components are be used by a single user and also
no such memory requirements like the typical
servers.
3.We were in process of
using one SAP solution R/3 Enterprise 4.7 before
2007.Then does it mean that we will need to
upgrade all our servers to 64bit's at 2007?
No,you can continue using your 32bit's server to
use the old releasing until SAP maintenance this
releasing.Refers to: http://service.sap.com/maintenanceextension
and you will get the total introduction of SAP
maintenance strategy.As a normal formula,using
SAP 6.40 releasing or even lower will not be
influenced by the change of no supporting
32bit's.
4.I want to use 64bit's
for my current releasing,is that ok?
Yes.SAP support 64bit's since SAP R/3 4.6C.For
windows system please refer to PAM http://service.sap.com/platforms
-> Product Availability Matrix.Linux system

notes in it.As to Unicode SAP solutions or using
SAP NW2004s solutions,we strongly suggest you
run you entire system under the 64bit's mode.
5.Do our hardwares need
64bit's too?
For linux, please refer to the list of our
hardware partners on the authentication of
hardwares.This list is under http://www.sap.com/linux
-> Platforms -> Hardware List or you can send
letters to Linux@sap.com. For windows,please
refer to consultation authentication hardware
list under http://www.saponwin.com.
6.I want to run the
releasing before 4.6c on a 64bit's server.
Until now we still have no plan to ensure that
the releasing before SAP 4.6C can run at a
64bit's server.Even though,we strongly suggest
that you only purchase the hardwares support
64bit,and then install 32bit's OS.This will help
you upgrade to the latest SAP releasing and
enjoy the benefits of 64bit's.
7.Are these
introduction the same to SAP BusinessOne?

platform.More details please refer to: http://service.sap.com/pam
